WE WON! THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF JOHN REESE AND THE UNION

We beat the Discharge!

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF JOHN REESE AND THE UNION - ESPANOLA-NEA. Some said the Board would vote against him no matter the merits. What those skeptics of union power did not realize is the enormous power of collective people (in this case, union) power, especially when combined with having the truth and justice on our side.

If anyone had any doubts about the power of collective action, let them now be erased!

Thank you so much to everyone who signed either the hard copy or the electronic petitions! In two days time, we gathered signatures on the hard copy from a majority of the school employees (more than 300) in Espanola, and many more were among the 200+ people who also signed the electronic petition.

We are glad too for the signatures gathered at Northern New Mexico College, also in Espanola, by our sister union there, a Local of the New Mexico Federation of Teachers. We hope this support signals the beginning of more collaborative, collective action ahead. That Local has six Prohibited Practice Complaints before the State Labor Board for their administration's offensive anti-union actions.

In the Espanola Public Schools, the need to convert many current not-yet-members is as strong as ever. We cannot rest on this victory, as sweet as it is. The issues with the non-payment of TIF incentives, the actions pending against other employees and the need to continue progress on improving the Student Discipline (and other) provisions of the Collective Bargaining demand that each member who shares these concerns convince their colleagues that now is the time to join (plus, the addition of a $50 rebate for the new members and a $25 thank you to the recruiter can't hurt).

IN JOYOUS SOLIDARITY!
