Modest Progress -

I received an email from Dr. C, telling me that he and the school board would be meeting last Wednesday evening and discussing our negotiations. That we would be hearing from thier consultant in the near future. And that he would like to add NEA representation to several committees.

I asked him some clarifying questions that have not yet been answered regarding meeting times, duty issues, and our representative role. In the mean time I am wondering if there are any of you who would like to take on the responsibility of representing Española-NEA on any of these committees?

Current committees he specificially mentioned were Education, Restructuring, and Bond committees, not mentioned, but presumably coming up, would be calendar and budget committees. Dr. C seemed to think that he had NEA representation on the Superintendents Advisory Committee. Some of our members may indeed be on the committee, but being on the committee while being a member of Española-NEA and representing Española-NEA are two different things.

On other news - I and 5 other Española-NEA officers and members went to the Fall Council meeting today where we all (All of Española-NEA) was honored for our election results and we were given the first ever "Rosie the Rivetor" Award for our success under pressure.

The award is a very nice lamented poster - slightly larger than 8.5 x 11- suggestions on what to do with it can be emailed to the above address.
