Congratulations Española Public Schools Employees!

Every single Española Public School Employee should be beaming with pride tonight. Nearly 79% of the eligible employees voted today. Not bad for all the malarkey that was thrown at the employees between scare tactics such as the 'Informative Memo' that was filled with half truths, misleading statements and incorrect information, the telling of many employees that they could not vote even though they could and were on the districts eligible voters lists. Apparently being on the eligible voters list did not actually mean they would be allowed to vote! And then finally, the moving of employees to alternate schools through out the day for 'in service' so that voting was more difficult for them. In spite of all that almost 80% of the employees voted, more than signed the cards last spring!

I am very impressed. 99% of the classified employees who voted, votes YES for Collective Bargaining and 96% of the certified employees who voted, voted YES for Collective Bargaining. There were a total of 15 no votes in the entire bunch! Outstanding!

Clearly the Española Public Schools Employees have spoken to the board and the administration with one voice and one message. Great job Española! Hold your heads high and smile - we now have rights.

Thank you for all you do for our students.
